Synopsis
Short. October 1981. Released after ten years in a state psychiatric ward, Glenn Whitaker takes a night job in Orchard Grove, Ohio, a town that has lost thirteen people in thirteen days. The locals keep their porch lights burning and their rules close. Then a polite visitor with a red case starts knocking.
Long. October 1981. After ten years in a state psychiatric ward, Glenn Whitaker is handed an envelope of belongings from 1971, including a small locket he has never seen before, and one last piece of advice: no more doors.
He rides the bus to Orchard Grove, Ohio, takes a motel room and a night shift at Dale's gas station, and learns the local rules fast. Porch lights stay on all night. You don't open up for strangers. And on the evening news, the count keeps climbing: thirteen disappearances in thirteen days.
The townspeople are friendly in a way that feels rehearsed. Rhonda, a bowler who used to work police dispatch and knows everyone, wants him on the team. Walt takes his porch light very seriously. And at the edge of the frame, again and again, stands a man in a hat with a red case, very courteous, going door to door, one house at a time. He only needs you to open the door.
Presented as a home-video tape someone found, VENDITOR is a slow-burn cosmic horror film and the follow-up to He Only Knocks Once, which is set on Halloween, 1971.

Made honestly: VENDITOR was made with AI video tools (Grok Imagine), then hand-edited, sound-designed and scored by Pharaoh Lovecraft.
The filmmakers
Pharaoh Lovecraft is a director and musician, and Saturnborn Films is his home. He wrote and performed VENDITOR's score himself, piano and 1980s-style synth, and hand-edited and sound-designed the film. His films are found footage set on Halloween night in small-town Ohio: VENDITOR follows his first film, He Only Knocks Once, and the story continues in The Courtesy of the Door, a novel and audiobook series.
Nelson J. Torres co-wrote VENDITOR and He Only Knocks Once with Pharaoh Lovecraft, co-created the visitor, and brings him to the door on screen as the visitor.
